employees**Essential Job functions:Performs Nuclear Cardiac PET/CT
imaging using PET radioisotopes and non-PET cardiac radioisotopes
for diagnostic purposes.Demonstrates a thorough understanding of
nuclear medicine principles and theory, anatomy, positioning, and
technique for obtaining optimal imaging studies. Demonstrates
radiation protection and safety for patients and staff as outlined
in department protocols and regulatory guidelines.Radiopharmacy -
Prepares doses and standards properly by quantitating exact dose,
activity, and confirming calculated activity using a dose
calibrator. Chooses an appropriate container for dilution of
standard. Stores radioactive materials and non-radioactive kits in
the appropriate area. Assembles generator and positions it
correctly behind barriers. Obtains generator eluate according to
manufacturer's instructions. Prepares compound radiopharmaceuticals
in sufficient amounts to meet the day's exam activity.Radiation
Control- Disposes of radioactive waste according to department
policies and procedures, radiation safety guidelines, license
specifications, and applicable regulating bodies. Follows radiation
protection procedures in order to adhere to local, state, and
federal license requirements governing the use of radioactive
materials. Takes appropriate measures to reduce exposure whenever
possible. Performs decontamination procedures when necessary in
accordance with departmental procedures; notifies supervisor of any
contamination incident.Independently implements patient procedures
in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Explains
the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly and document
reason for test and any known allergies. When necessary, obtain the
assistance of the Summit Health interpreter or translator.Positions
patient and equipment appropriate to the body part(s) to be studied
and adjust equipment settings accordingly to ensure maximum
information is obtained. Determines how to display and format data
as needed. Performs filming of optimum quality and archives the
data. Analyzes data acquired and reports results to physician for
interpretation.Operates offices and radiology information systems
as they relate to nuclear medicine. Correctly chooses appropriate
patient information from Athena/RIS system in accordance with HIPPA
regulations. Demonstrates ability to access patient information
such as appointment times, type of exam, and patient reports. Is
knowledgeable of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Information System and is able to
access patient data for verification of orders.Acts as a department
liaison by communicating with doctors offices new PET/CT scan
technologies, and provides follow up to any questions they may
have. Performs other duties as assigned.Gives reports to physician
for review/interpretation within the time frame specified by the
department. Performs daily/weekly quality assurance procedures,
calibration and flood analysis on the equipment according to
manufacturers guidelines.Troubleshoots minor problems, reports
other problems and those requiring repair service to Supervisor of
Cardiology Techs, Clinical Manager and Physician.Acquires clear
images appropriate for the studies. Accurately gates the study when
required.Adheres to department policies and protocols to ensure
that all studies are optimized for interpretation.Nuclear
technician assist RSO in performing departmental surveys to ensure
compliance with radiation standards for SMG, NRC, EPA and
DOH.Follows proper procedures for spill and decontamination;
reports contamination to appropriate authorities and regulatory
commissions. Orders and logs appropriate information regarding
receipt of radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals and dispose of
radioisotopes according to industry standards and regulations.IAC
Accredited maintain nuclear Policies and Procedures to reflect
current techniques, best practices and complianceAdheres to the
nuclear workflow in preparing the preliminary report for the
Cardiologist. Archives images according to Summit Health
guidelines.Education, Certification, Computer and Training
Requirements: To qualify you must haveAssociate's degree or
Bachelors degree preferred.0 1 years experience. 2-4 years
experience preferred.Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine
Technology Program.Certification/registration in Nuclear Medicine
by either the: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
(NMTCB) or The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
(ARRT)New York State License (Nuclear Medicine)Advanced
Certification in CT to perform diagnostic CT and to perform PET CT
fusion imaging.Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)Ability to
communicate in English, both orally and in writing required.Strong
interpersonal and organizational skills required.Experience with
Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment
preferred.Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and
priority setting skills required.Must have obtained at least 15
hours of accredited CE relevant to nuclear medicine, every three
years.#INDAncillaryPay Range $55/hr - $75/hrThe provided
compensation range is based on industry standards and salary
determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but
not limited to years of experience and location of position.About
